Publications

SCIT publishes its annual journal 'SCIT Journal', which provides knowledge about the work done by various professionals, faculty and students. This journal is a compendium of work carried out in various areas of IT. Professionals from the industry, SCIT faculty and students publish their work on this platform. SCIT has now constituted an international Editorial Board for refereeing the contributions. Abstracts of some of the papers published are:

Open Vision Service Management System
The rapid development of IT and the introduction of new technologies have provided new possibilities for Telecommunication and Networking. Next Generation Networks are characterized by complexity, intelligence, heterogeneous technologies, multitude of vendor products and increasing user expectations from the networks. Simple and empirical Network Management of the previous year was replaced by homogeneous standards using the manager/agent (client/server) approach proposed by ISO. Later, new principles of management by delegation, peer-to-peer management and web based approaches emerged. However, carrying out the Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security functional areas for Network Management in Next Generation Networks will require new approaches.
The goal of Open Vision Service Management System is to develop Operations and Business Support Systems based on Telecommunications Management Network Architecture with flexible, intelligent, and brilliant capabilities in Network Management, Customer Care and Billing, Ordering, Provisioning, Service Level Agreements and Business Level Strategic Management for the existing and Next Generation Networks.

COM Support by Active Template Library(ATL)
ATL was originally designed as a way to write fast and small COM components. It was especially intended for automation components that could, for instance, implement business rules and a database access in a multi-tier architecture. There are many environments available for creation and implementation of COM interfaces. Each provides some sort of facilities while compromising on other aspects.
ATL also provides for the implementations of COM components that are supposed to be small and fast, though not so robust as that made by MFC.

Quality of Service in Linux - Diffserv Approach
The ever-growing traffic over the internet has propelled the need for guaranteed services to the end users. This certainly involves prioritization of traffic; the simple idea being dividing the traffic into different categories and allocating each category, a certain level of service. The service applied to a particular traffic is decided based on its criticality. The IETF-proposed Differentiated Services (Diffserv) Architecture provides such capabilities. Linux has a built-in support for traffic control and can prioritize and schedule incoming/outgoing packets. This paper focuses on the concept of Diffserv and its support in Linux.

Authentication in Grid Computing
Security and protection deal with the control of unauthorized use and access to resource. One of the main reasons for security violation is unauthorized access to resources. With the grid technology, which deals with sharing of resources across individually administered domains, one needs to enforce new security mechanisms with special security techniques in it. This paper deals with how resources can be accessed in grid computing with proper permissions by authenticated users or processes. It also discusses how a modified implementation of the traditional Access Matrix Model can help in addressing those issues.

SCIT Monograph Series: SCIT Publications has a 'Monograph Series' in IT Business Management for various topics such as 'IT Applications in Vertical Domains', 'CRM' etc. and information on these sectors.
