Abstract

Distributed real time database systems (DRTDBS) can be defined as database systems that support real time transactions. The performance of DRTDBS depends on several factors. One of the primary performance determinants is the policy used to schedule system resources i.e. processors, main memory, disks, the data items etc. to the transactions. In order to resolve the contention for these resources, our work involves design of commits protocol and its performance comparison with existing real time commit protocols. The Borrowing Factor is computed by a new way for each borrower, so that lock on requested dirty data items can be granted to borrowers in fruitful way only. Both blind write and update type of write operations have been considered. The inconsistency created due to multiple read then borrowing data for blind write/update operation in the previously developed commit protocols has been also resolved. The performance of Extended SWIFT is compared with other protocols for both main memory resident and disk resident databases with and without communication delay. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol improves the system performance by 4% by minimizing the data inaccessibility and enabling borrowing only when it turns out to be fruitful.

Abstract

In the recent years, robotics and automation have constituted to be an integral part of many industries like medicine, manufacturing. The use of robotics and automation reduces the intervention of human labor and has proved to be efficient. This work is to design and build a cost effective Gesture controlled robotic arm which can sense the movements of a human arm and emulate the movements through a robotic arm. It is also configured to record the actions which are performed by the human arm and can emulate it without the human intervention when needed. To achieve it, the rotary encoders are used to sense the movements of the human arm and serial input/output to transfer data. The model build in this project is a prototype and can be enhanced to be more efficient and incorporate features which enable wider applications.

Abstract

Software testing has been growing at a rapid pace in the last few years. Software testing is the back bone for quality assurance and ensuring there are zero defects in the application or product used by the customers or the employees of the organization providing Banking, financial services and insurance services. There are a number of challenges faced by the software testing team for improving software testing efficiency at an optimum cost. This paper presents the critical challenges faced by the testing team for these applications, identify the factors that have a major influence for improving testing efficiency and suggest solutions to overcome some of these challenges. A survey was conducted to study different constraints faced by the testing professionals with the above objectives and the results are presented in this paper. A few recommendations such as developing an automation framework, collecting reusable artifacts and using continuous improvement techniques to improve the testing process are detailed.

Abstract

With daily trillions tones of data being generated, number of tools to deal with this Big Data is also increasing exponentially in market. When there are plenty of solutions available, it becomes necessary to evaluate each and every option available and understand when to use which one to get effective and efficient result. So, one part of this research deals with the comparison between different big data tools available in market which includes its advantages and disadvantages over other tools. The parameters for the comparative analysis will be derived from the literature. As Hadoop has become synonym for Big Data solution, first part will mainly include comparison of different combination of solutions provided by different Hadoop distributors. The second part of this research deals with use of the analytics tools in the pervasive environments. It includes the understanding of pervasive environments w.r.t new business opportunities and the mapping of those big data tools that will help in the analysis of those new business ventures for growing and sustainability. Expected result out of this research is decent analysis report which can help you make decision about Big Data tool choice based on application.

Abstract

A huge amount of data is generated and collected during the various phases of software development lifecycle. Software analytics is the analysis of this data produced during the lifecycle of software development to find insightful and actionable information. This can be done by using various techniques such as machine learning, data mining, pattern recognition, information visualization and large scale data computing and processing. To a large extent, software analytics is about what we can learn and share about software. This research will aim in an in-depth understanding of software analytics, determining how useful it is to an organization and how software analytics can be performed during testing phase of software development lifecycle.
