How do I get an admission in SCIT?

You need to give SNAP test first and apply online to register for admission to SCIT. If you get the required cut-off score, you would then be called for the GE-PIWAT Process. Please refer to admissions pages of the website.

How many seats are there for MBA (ITBM) in SCIT?

There are 180 Seats for MBA (ITBM).

Are there any reservation seats for students in SCIT?

There are reservations for students at SCIT:
SC: 15%, ST: 7.5%, Differently Abled: 3%, Children/Wards of Defense Personnel: 5%, Over and Above Total Intake children of migrants from Jammu and Kashmir valley, 15% seats for International Students.

How many General seats are there for MBA (ITBM)?

Out of 180 seats for MBA (ITBM), 125 seats are for the general category.

What are the eligibility criteria for the MBA-ITBM programme?

Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks from any recognized university are eligible for admission to SCIT's MBA-ITBM programme. Candidates are required to be conversant in IT. For more information on eligibility, please refer to eligibility details in admissions.

In which format will SNAP score be declared?

SNAP Score will be declared as a percentile to all candidates.

On what basis will the applicant be called for GE-PIWAT?

Applicants will be called for GE-PIWAT purely based on SNAP percentile scores.

How is the final merit score calculated for admission into MBA (ITBM) programme?

Will SNAP be based only on Aptitude Test and General Knowledge?

SNAP Question Paper will have questions pertaining to diverse areas like Commerce, IT, Media, Science, Management, Aptitude, General Knowledge, etc. For exact details, visit www.snaptest.org.

What was the SNAP 2018 cut off for SCIT?

Many students aspire to get into SCIT, and thousands of aspirants apply each year. Only a few selected candidates get the opportunity to join SCIT and pursue the MBA (ITBM) programme. In 2019, the SNAP-2018 cut-off score for MBA (ITBM) was 46 percentile.

What is the pattern of the written test for admission?

What is the format of the SNAP Test?

Is the institute’s MBA Programme recognized by UGC or by AICTE?

SCIT is a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, vide notification No. F.9-12/2001-U.3 of the Government of India and notification No. SIDU/28/131 dated 18th Dec 2006. The programmes offered by SCIT are therefore in compliance with UGC norms.

Is the institute NAAC accredited?

Symbiosis International (Deemed University), of which SCIT is a constituent, has been awarded Grade ‘A Plus’ by NAAC in 2009 and 2014, and ‘A Plus Plus’ by NAAC in 2022.

Is it necessary to have a technical background to opt for MBA (ITBM)?

No, graduates with a minimum of 50% marks from any faculty can opt for MBA (ITBM).

What is the difference between SCIT’s MBA programmes and MCA?

• SCIT’s MBA programmes and MCA are different:
• SCIT MBA in Information Technology Business Management (ITBM) is a 2-year residential Post Graduate Degree Programme aimed at developing management professionals for IT Businesses and its specialized streams. It builds management skills and reinforces IT skills to create leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs in IT products & services domains. This programme enables students to gain in-depth knowledge of the niche areas of IT Businesses.
• MCA is a 3-year Computer Applications course offered by some universities.

What is the difference between the MBA (ITBM) data science specialization and MBA (DS&DA)?

• MBA (ITBM) and MBA (DS&DA) are both two-year full-time residential courses. The SNAP test is mandatory for admission to both courses.
• In MBA (ITBM), students can choose from five specializations: Information Security Management, Systems, Software Solutions Management, IT Infrastructure Management, and Data Science.
• In the Data Science elective, subjects covered include Multivariate Data Analysis, Data Management, Predictive Analysis, Data Mining, Social Media Analysis, and more, alongside core management subjects.
• In MBA (DS&DA), students gain analytics competencies and hands-on experience with data science tools, preparing them for business and techno-functional roles in data science and analytics projects.

In MBA (ITBM) will there be general MBA subjects or only domain-specific subjects?

MBA (ITBM) prepares students for business and techno-functional roles, blending general and domain-specific subjects. Subjects include Information Security Management, IT Infrastructure Management, Software Solutions Management, Systems, and Data Science.

Is there any specialization offered by SCIT in its MBA-ITBM Programme?

Yes. SCIT offers a flexible elective structure within the MBA (ITBM) programme. Students who wish to specialize can choose elective courses from categories like Information Security Management, IT Infrastructure Management, Software Solutions Management, and Data Science.

How can I select a specialization?

Students should review the courses offered within each elective/specialization category. Upon joining the programme, SCIT provides more information through counseling sessions. Students can start taking elective courses in their chosen category from the first semester itself.

What is a core course?

A core course is mandatory for all students, regardless of specialization. Students cannot choose between core courses.

What is an elective course?

An elective course is one that students can choose from the available options within their chosen specialization.

How many credits/courses can I take in a semester?

The MBA programme requires 100 credits in total. On average, students take 20 to 25 credits per semester. The industry internship carries 10 mandatory credits.

What is a credit point?

Credit points define the importance, complexity, and depth of a course. The MBA programme requires 100 total credits. Each credit point corresponds to a specific number of contact hours and evaluation marks. For example:
• A 1-credit course = 15 contact hours & 50 marks.
• A 2-credit course = 30 contact hours & 100 marks.

Do all students get hostel facilities?

MBA is a residential 2-year postgraduate programme. Students get to stay in Infotech Campus at Infotech Park, Phase-1, Hinjewadi, Pune, which houses a Swimming Pool, Cafeteria, Mess, Gymnasium, Health Centre, General Store, and beautifully landscaped lawns. The SCIT campus provides a highly conducive and stimulating environment to all its students.

Is there any transport facility provided?

Since this is a residential programme, care is taken to provide all amenities and facilities on campus. Besides this, there are shuttle services from the campus to the city at regular intervals that carry students to and fro from early morning till late in the night. PMPML buses are also available from Infosys Circle to the city.

Does the institute provide placement and internships to students?

SCIT's placement record has been exemplary, even during economic slowdowns. During internships, students have performed well in revenue-generating projects. Our recruiters include giants like Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PWC, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, and many more.
